Its funny how the people that say BB couldn’t run without drugs got a thumbs down but its true. He was taken off the drugs and he didn’t have what it took to be a winner. My personal opinion…if a horse can’t win on raw, natural talent he/she has no business running in ANY race.

  2. NarniaLuver81 on November 1st, 2008 8:54 pm

Face facts, BB barely won the races after the belmont, after they took him off drugs, before that he demolished fields of the best. Some horse, needed drugs to improve his potential… The real 08 Derby Winner: Eight Belles. Go on, give me thumbs down, i don’t really care.

  3. BrianShaw23 on November 4th, 2008 7:38 pm

idiot, casino drive shouldnt have even been in the classic. finished last, talk about overrated.

  4. lablover94 on November 5th, 2008 11:26 pm

They took BB off the steroids and he still won the races he ran in, evrn his turf debut. BB would have beat him all the way! I was looking forward to Seeing BB win the calssic.

I wish the match-up culd happen, but it won’t, so we’ll never know. But I think Casino Drive wuld hav hammered BB, easily. Go ahead, give me thumbs down, cause I don’t really care. The fact is that Big Brown had to be loaded up wid drugs to run like he did in the derby and preakness, Casino Drive and Curlin are amazing horses and they aren’t injected with drugs, r they??

  6. NarniaLuver81 on November 7th, 2008 9:03 pm

I’m sad to tell u all this, but Caino Drive will NEVER get he chance to hammer Big Brown in the Classic, cause BB has been injured and retired now. The show down will be between this colt and Curlin, i think, he is going to be the next big thing! Maybe even the next Curlin!

  7. funshipM174 on November 8th, 2008 12:45 pm

Those are the facts.Browns derby was the 6th or seventh slowest in the last 10 years. Reality sucks, doesn’t it.

  8. javaqwe on November 10th, 2008 1:33 pm

Casino Drive, Curlin, Big Brown & Commentator broke there maiden by double digits.

  9. dbjr8 on November 10th, 2008 8:27 pm

ARe you kidding me funship? BB’s Derby time is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the pack for the last 10 years, not one of the slowest. BB was SLOWING DOWN crossing the derby wire and ran it in a faster time than Smarty Jones, Street Sense, Giacomo, Charismatic, Real Quiet, Silver Charm, Unbridled, Sunday Silence, Winning Colors, Alysheba, Ferdinand, Spectacular Bid, even Seattle Slew. Do your research before making assanine comments like that…

Why did Desormeaux bother to go to stick in the final sixteenth?

  11. funshipM174 on November 13th, 2008 11:14 am

    ghostzapper2006,
I couldn’t agree more. BB is the most over hyped horse in the last two decades. He ran one of the slowest derbys in the last 10 years and has done EVERYTHING to avaoid a match with Big Brown until the BCC in hopes that the “synthetic” track will defeat Curlin.Casino Drive no doubt would have destroyed BB in the Belmont. But since that didn’t happen, he will get to hammer him in the BCC.

casino drive is awesome he is my favorite racehorse right now hes so fast and beautful.

  13. hongwaskyblue on November 16th, 2008 10:31 pm

He’s a little bit like his sister Rags to Riches but surely much better.Curlin wanna go to the Arc,why not this fellow?his pedigree suggests he is a dirt horse but dont forget his dam’s Blushing Groom line which I think he is inherited.Arazi was excellent on turf and Lammtarra was an Arc horse. He has similar blood and similarly they are a stylish chestnut.

  14. hongwaskyblue on November 19th, 2008 12:34 am

He is really one of the greats I’ve ever seen. I seldom say this. Excellent combination of looking, conformation, temperment and action.I’ve heard that his owner’s ambition is to win the arc. From my experience on his movement,I am confident that he is top class both on the turf and dirt or comparatively much outstanding on turf cos he really got great turn of foot…

Forgive me if I can’t take your moronic statements about racing in Japan seriously. You’re just like the blind man who feels the trunk of an elephant and says “I see. An elephant is very much like a snake.”

By the way. nobody accused you of running away from one of the worst pieces of handicapping in Triple Crown history–it was just assumed you would go to the mattresses until things cooled down.

On the bright side: maybe you learned not to
pound your chest until the horse you bet on wins.

  16. THEBIDWASTHBESTEVER on November 20th, 2008 5:19 pm

I do not run from nothing I said……now you are going to sit there and tell me if the real Big Brown ran his race he would have lost to that bunch give me a fricken break…..and yes you are right 8189 Big Brown ran just as bad as the Japanese wonder PIG formally known as Symboli Rudolf came his last quarter against second tier AMERICAN HORSES…If it were not for the AMERICAN WONDER HORSE SUNDAY SILENCE JAP racing would be NOTHING…..

There’s no mystery, really. Frankel advised Dutrow to reduce BB’s electrolyte load. He would only do that if Dutrow told him or he saw that BB was getting fractious or rank as race day approached. One way to calm a horse down who might boil over in a race is to cut back on potassium (k+).

Even if Dutrow gave BB his dose, did he guess right giving the ferocious heat? BB gave signs in the holding area
(kicking) and during the race (agitation) of a horse with
    low-level dehydration.

    A shame.

  18. MorningGift2001 on November 25th, 2008 11:30 am

Casino drive didnt even have to be in the race and big brown still lost. it wasnt suppose to be. did they find out what happened to Big Brown?

  19. blkmmd0929 on November 27th, 2008 1:50 am

    End story:

Japanese horsemen “love for the horse”, put the horse first!

Dutrow and IEAH “love for self”, put me first.
very arrogant of them. I spoke with a trainer on belmont day, before the race and she said he wouldnt compete and when she saw the foot she said they must be crazy to think he would get a mile and a half on that. So you people can say all u want but they scratched CD for a bruise because it was best for HORSE. BB had no chance and pride got in the way!

  20. grayantimatter on November 27th, 2008 2:51 pm

Well, I wouldn’t say POS. If they actually race the horse again (laughable I know) and he has some nice runs in the Travers or Classic, that would be nice story.

But having the trainer and some of the tools that were mouthing off humilated today, was pretty entertaining.

As soon as he asked Big Brown to run….nothing. And a lot of people, really weren’t surprised.

  21. grayantimatter on November 30th, 2008 3:16 am

You’re nuts. They jump on EVERY horse that wins the first two legs and trump them up for three weeks. Big Brown! The most special triple crown hopeful since Smarty Jones!!

  22. grayantimatter on December 2nd, 2008 5:51 pm

It’s a tragic story, not doubt. But “should have” doesn’t really matter too much. There have been several truly great 3 year olds over the last 30 years.

  23. grayantimatter on December 4th, 2008 12:10 pm

Yup. Enthusiam and confidence is great. He’s just a ******.

  24. grayantimatter on December 4th, 2008 2:25 pm

Well, you were right. Casino Drive and Big Brown weren’t in the same area code….
