If you have the ability to hold yourself out at arms length (by the hair on your own head)…and if you were a child of the 50′s or 60′s, then this film is hilarious.

“You had to have been there,” as they say, otherwise you probably won’t get it.

My own favorite line/joke comes during the final battle: Jean-Paul Belmondo (as the Legionnaire) slugs an opponent, and then wrings his hand in pain…

He then consults his “French to English” dictionary for proper translation: Oooch!” (Ouch!).

Overall it’s a complete and utter mess (I guess that’s what you get with five different directors) but the individual bits are great fun. Good stuff if you’re after something cheerful, silly and over-the-top.

This is supposed to be a spoof of the first novel’s storyline.

Actually the book James Bond was quite a secret ******* to everyone. Reread his thoughts on Vesper helping him out. He sure wasn’t keen on people who served him no purpose.

A guy who smokes ten packs of cigarretes a day wouldn’t last as a secret agent. James Bond is supposed to be dangerous, and they made him so.

And no, his first mission means that he’s young and wreckless. He is truly not James Bond until Vesper doublecrosses him. Did you not read his revelation at the end of the book?

well, did you know that David Niven before Sean Connery in Dr. No was one of the many candidate to be James Bond for Dr. No. Just imagine David Niven fighting Oddjob instead of Connery or fighting Largo in Thunderball.
