   It is not realistic horror – that is not to say that someone in the world is not tortured by psychos out there but maybe not in these deliberate Rube Goldberg contraptions. This scene from Casino feels real and it did happen. Watching Frank Vincent deliver one final blow to Pesci’s brother’s face shows an honesty and lack of humanity that the Saw movies can’t and wouldn’t dare approach

   how are they not honest? somewhere in the world there will be the kind of activity in saw going on EVERY DAY, believe me.

   and i really don’t see how there’s more ‘sting’ to this than saw…

   Well, there is a jump transition to the brother’s bloodied body on the ground – that means they were beating him severely for a while so i am sure Pesci got punched or scratched or who knows what while watching his brother die.

   The SAW movies are not honest…just brutality for the sake of it – there is no sting to them. CASINO, GOODFELLAS, HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER are honest depictions of the savage beast in all of us.

   Anyone there: I have a question: Where did that blood in Pesci’s face come from, when he was being forced to watch his brother’s execution, if he hadn’t been beaten up himself yet?

    technically, he does survive last we see of him. but he gets buried alive, so he’ll eventually die of suffocation

    whole nevada desert is full with ‘tombs’ like that. A vast cemetery for crooks and mobs who didn’t pay up.
